Ramarn Asian Grocery Store, 5824 Decatur Road, was robbed around 7:18 p.m. Saturday.According to a report from the Fort Wayne Police Department, a woman and her husband were working at the store when five male subjects in masks, all armed with black handguns, came in. Through translations by her son, and later a police interpreter, officers were able to determine the woman was behind the cash register and her husband was near the entrance when the five men entered.

One of the subjects told her to put her hands up and her head down on the counter. She was told not to look up or they would shoot. The same person came around the counter, fired a shot into a video monitor. The suspect then got behind the counter and took cash from the register. He came back around the counter and struck the woman in the head with his pistol. She heard more shots fired as they left the store.

While she was detained at the register another subject robbed her husband, taking about $20. As the men ran from the store a subject struck the husband on the back of the head causing him to fall. Once the men left, the man ran next door to their home and had their son call the police. Paramedics came to the scene, but the couple refused treatment.

Police followed footprints in the snow outside the store, which led them west. While following the tracks they found part of the cash register drawer and register tape. The tracks ended by a curb in the 600 block of Downington Drive. A resident told officers a 1990s white Cadillac he had never seen before had been parked there when he got home.
