It was a poor start, we put ourselves in a hole, and (Joel) Martin did the job the rest of the way, especially in the second and third. We didn't test him much in the first, but he made some point-blank saves on our guys from right in the slot. Their point men got some screened shots through, and they floated in the net. That's just the way it's been going for us at home. We're not worried about being fired up for starts. We're ready at the start of the game, we just didn't play our game. I think there were way too many turnovers in the first period between the blue lines, and we were constantly chasing them back into our zone rather than playing them in the offensive zone. We have to play the same way every night to be successful, and we didn't play that way in the first period.I thought pretty good. I thought he had some chances and had some hits. I thought he did some good things. Obviously, he still wants to get up to speed and get his conditioning up to the right level. The fact that he's getting a couple of scoring chances is a good sign.We try to win the second period and the third period and try to get something positive out of it. We won the third period 1-0, and that's something positive we have to take out of the game. It's just one game. Unfortunately, Cousie got off to a rocky start, and it was 3-0 before we knew what hit us.Well, Reiter wasn't playing tonight, Cousie was. Reiter was going to back up, but obviously things changed. I thought Effinger did a great job. A breakaway save and a couple of good saves in the third period. He wasn't called on a lot, but I thought the one goal he had no chance on, but the rest of the way he played well.Losing this game tonight makes tomorrow nght's game that much bigger. We've got to have the urgency right off the bat we had in the second and third periods and make sure we have three solid periods.
