The Mad Ants beat the Maine Red Claws 115-109 on Thursday at Memorial Coliseum. Here are the five keys to the win:
1. Unselfishness
The Mad Ants dished out 31 assists to only 12 turnovers, led by point guard Anthony Harris. Harris, who played 47+ minutes, had 17 assists with only two turnovers.
2. Offensive balance
Six players scored in double figures, led by Luke Harangody's 29 points and Darryl Partin's 20.
3. Composure down the stretch
The Ants' maintained their late-game lead by answering Maine's quick-attack offense with strong ball-handling and free throws. Harangody, Sadiel Rojas and Harris hit free throws late.
4. Defensive tenacity
Fort Wayne had 11 steals and nine blocked shots. Rojas had five steals in 28 minutes of play. Miles Plumlee, assigned by the Pacers, had three blocks.
5. High energy
Returning home after a long road trip, the Ants looked fresher than the Red Claws, and a 28-11 edge in second-chance points reflected that.
