Jefferson Pointe to get new Marshalls store

Friday, February 1, 2013 - 8:39 am

A new Marshalls store will create a minor shakeup at Jefferson Pointe this year.

To make room for the off-price department store, Old Navy will move in early March from its current location at the shopping center’s northeast corner to an empty space at the southwest end, Jefferson Pointe said in a news release.

The shopping center also plans to expand the current Old Navy space by about 3,000 square feet to make room for Marshalls, which will occupy nearly 25,000 square feet when it moves in this summer, the release said.

Old Navy will occupy just over 13,000 square feet in its new space, between Family Christian Stores and Michael’s arts and crafts. Old Navy, a fashion retailer owned by Gap, also plans to freshen its look at its new location.

Marshalls opened in April 2011 in Southgate Plaza on East Pettit Ave. but closed that location last year. It also has a store in Chapel Ridge Plaza, 10550 Maysville Road.

Marshalls is owned by the TJX Companies, which also owns T.J. Maxx. It advertises its merchandise as department-store quality with a price tag of 60 percent less.
