Faith briefs: Hymnfest Sunday at Shepherd of the City Lutheran; Grace Presbyterian plans Mardi Gras celebration

FIRST MENNONITE CHURCH, Berne, will hold rehearsals for its spring concert at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, through April 30. Dress rehearsal is May 4 with the concert May 5.

Kathy Thomas of Grace will focus on Christianity, and the April sessions exploring Buddhism will be led by Michael Spath, a professor of comparative religions. Child care is provided.

SHEPHERD OF THE CITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1301 S. Anthony Blvd., will hold its fifth annual hymnfest at 4 p.m. Sunday. Guest organist is Kantor Kevin Hildebrand of Concordia Theological Seminary. A seminar on demonology, the study of the devil and his nature as taught in the Christian Bible, takes place Feb. 16, with a morning session 10 a.m.-noon and an afternoon session 1-3 p.m. Free admission and complimentary lunch offered.
