In 2012, the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and ARAMARK paid $93,000 to 12 nonprofit community organizations whose representatives work concession stands for sporting events, concerts and family shows in the arena and also sell merchandise for events. In exchange, a percentage of sales is paid to the group.The groups participating last year included: Fort Wayne Derby Girls, FWSC-Indiana Prospects, Hamilton Park Little League, Highland Lodge, Bishop Luers High School Soccer, Leo High School Band Boosters, Bishop Luers High School Softball, Sigma Pi Fraternity, South Side High School Softball, North Side High School Football, Central Noble High School Athletic Boosters, and United Spirit Dance.

For more information about the program, visit www.memorialcoliseum.com.The Staehle Foundation, administered through the PNC Charitable Trust, has awarded Allen County Education Partnership a $3,000 grant to support the agency's literacy programming.The Build-A-Bear Workshop Huggable Heroes program is accepting nominations for ages 8 to 18. Ten Huggable Heroes will each receive $10,000 which includes an educational scholarship, a donation to a charity of their choice, and a mentoring scholarship to support their charitable entrepreneurships.

Each Huggable Hero also will be paired with a mentor through the Jefferson Awards Globechangers system for a year in order to develop valuable skills for writing business plans, networking and fundraising.

Nominations will be accepted through the website www.buildabear.com/huggableheroes or by mail until Feb. 28. Nomination forms are also available at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores.Elder Law Attorney Steve Hagen will will speak about Medicaid planning, wills and estates at 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Avalon Village, 200 Kingston Circle. Admission is free.Radion station WBCL's Share 2013 is running now through Friday. WBCL staff and volunteers will take calls 6 a.m.-7 p.m. now through Friday at 1-877-745-9090.
