“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” — U.S. Constitution, Second Amendment. Why is it we hear the “bear arms” part so much but conveniently forget the “well-regulated” part of the same statement?
The Waynedale Gardens neighborhood has no association, … but it would be nice if the city would come out and would finally finish the job of fixing the sidewalks they started two to three years ago. Half of our sidewalks were filed down — much nicer to walk on without tripping — and half are still uneven.
I’m a Democrat, but I thank you, Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, for your assertion that Republicans need to learn how to compromise again. This is why you, the governor of a blue state, currently have a 73 percent approval rating. You live in reality!
For years, (former Gov.) Mitch (Daniels) said the state was in the black. He never told you we were in debt to the Feds for a 1.5 billion loan for unemployment (insurance). Now it’s time to pay up. More Republican lies just to stay in power. More taxes for small business. Thanks, Mitch.
(President) Obama advocates curtailing weapons (why not also knives of a certain length) as a measure to change our culture of violence and madness. This ignores the constant bombardment by his Hollywood buddies of how mayhem and ruthless killing is the usual and a template to follow. He punishes conservatives but looks the other way at contributing liberals.
Yes! Let’s buy guns for students instead of computers — it will actually save us so much money later in prison housing costs — since we pay more to house criminals than we do to educate our children.
Even though I only pay $4,000 on my $400,000 home, the property tax cap is the dumbest idea the governor ever came up with. There isn’t any money for schools, roads, cities and towns. We can’t even fund police and firefighters. Now another 10 percent cut. I had better buy another garden hose.
OK, OK. Yes, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were killed by a knife. People can also be killed by an ice pick or a pair of scissors. The point is, obviously, one can kill a lot more people, a lot more easily, a lot more quickly, with a Bushmaster (assault-style rifle) than a knife.
People wonder why politicians don’t work for the people. Here’s why: So they can keep their seats, politicians spend most of their time begging for money from corporations and lobbyists, and are thus beholden to those corporations and lobbyists. Politicians will not be beholden to the people, and thus will not work for the people, until we only have public financing for elections.
I can’t think of even one example where an ordinary person would need an assault weapon for self-protection. They should be banned. Clinton did it. Why not now?
Thanks to Mitch Daniels, the state of Indiana has more surplus funds in hand than the entire federal government. In fact, Ohio and Wisconsin also have surpluses now that they have Republican governors. While the feds are looking for ways to raise taxes, our (former) governor … (was) lowering our taxes. Thank you.
I sure hope they take all of our guns. Then they can really have their way with us!
