A vacant house at 1932 St. Mary’s Ave. sustained moderate damage from a fire late Sunday afternoon.
According to a release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department, crews responded to the call around 4:53 p.m. and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the house. Firefighters fought the blaze from the inside while searching the house for occupants. The fire was knocked down by crews on the outside.
Siding was removed from the rear of the house to get to the fire in the walls, and the blaze was under control in 10 minutes.
