40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade swelled numbers.

WASHINGTON – Anti-abortion demonstrators from around the country, including some from Fort Wayne, marched through Washington to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday to protest a landmark court decision that legalized abortion.

The annual event took on added significance for many in the crowd because this year marks the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that created a constitutional right to abortion in some circumstances. The demonstrators, carrying signs with messages such as “Defend Life” and “Defund Planned Parenthood,” shouted chants including “Hey, Hey, Ho, Ho, Roe v. Wade has got to go.”

U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-3rd), whose district includes Allen County, welcomed the Hoosiers taking part in the March of Life – among them Cathie Humbarger, the executive director for Allen County Right to Life – to the nation's capital.
