A house fire in Fort Wayne Monday afternoon caused heavy damage in the house, but no one was harmed.Fort Wayne firefighters were called at 2:15 p.m. Monday to a fire in a house they described as vacant or abandoned at 9308 Sail Wind Drive, near the intersection of Illinois Road and Scott Road. They arrived at 2:20 p.m. and reported the fire was under control 25 minutes later.

When the first fire crew arrived, flames were visible in an attached garage and the second-floor attic. Firefighters called in additional help because of the size of the fire. Investigators later determined that the fire started in the garage before spreading to the second floor of the house.

Fire, smoke and water damage were all rated as heavy by firefighters.
