No injuries in separate Fort Wayne fires

Separate fires caused damage to two homes Sunday.

A passerby went into the Southwest Fire District Station 1 at 7001 Old Trail Road at 10:53 a.m. to report a house fire across the street, according to a Fort Wayne Fire Department news release. The district's Truck 57 responded to look for victims and attack the fire, and notified the Fort Wayne Fire Department. City firefighters arrived three minutes later to help search for any victims, but no one was in the two-story home, according to the release. Firefighters had the blaze, which was in the kitchen, under control at 11:08 a.m. The fire caused moderate fire damage and heavy smoke damage. No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

An unrelated fire occurred just before noon.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded at 11:59 a.m. to a reported house fire in the 3000 block of Allegany Avenue. Firefighters found heavy fire and smoke in the first-floor living room. The blaze was extending to the second floor. The crews found no one home and contained the blaze to the first floor. The home received heavy smoke and water damage. The fire was under control in 20 minutes and its cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
