Friday, January 18, 2013 - 6:37 am

Northrop High School's Bryson Scott and South Side's Ariana Simmons have been named the McDonald's High School Players of the Month for December by the Mad Ants and McDonald's.

Scott, a senior guard at Northrop High School who had committed to Purdue University, is currently averaging 22 points per game, 6.1 rebounds per game, and 2.8 steals per game. Scott was recently named tournament MVP of the 2012 SAC Holiday Tournament.

Simmons, a four-year varsity player for the Lady Archers, has scored over 1,000 points in her high school career. She has been named All-SAC for the past two seasons and was an Indiana Junior All-Star Core member last year. Simmons is averaging 15.5 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds per game this season. She will be keeping her talent local as she has chosen to continue her basketball career at IPFW.

Both players will be recognized during the Mad Ants home game on Jan.31
