A "Travel Check Voucher" from a "U.S. Airlines" reportedly is redeemable for two "round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. from any major international U.S. airport," but travel experts at Fodors.com say the offer is a scam.In a copy of the official looking voucher received today by at least one Fort Wayne resident, U.S. Airlines says they have attempted to contact the addressee "on several occasions" and that this is the recipient's "last chance to respond."

Instructions accompanying the voucher, which is designed to resemble a check, said the recipient must redeem it by Jan. 28 to receive the $1,298 in air fares.

The voucher also states, "This is not a timeshare or land sales offer."

A report on Fodors.com (www.fodors.com/news/story_4845.html) says dozens of Fodor's members have reported receiving a similar voucher.

Those who contacted U.S. Airlines said they were told that, to receive the two round-trip airline tickets, they had to attend a 90-minute presentation for "travel membership" packages or vacation clubs that involved sign-up fees of as much as $7,000, Fodors.com said.

Fodors.com also said its editors tried numerous times to contact representatives of U.S. Airlines, and no calls were returned.
