ITT Exelis in Fort Wayne has received a $25 million order to provide a wide range of communications equipment to an international customer, which the company declined to identify.

The order helps sustain employment at the company's Fort Wayne operations, but filling it won't require additional hiring, said ITT Exelis spokesman Tim White on Friday. The company employs about 1,200 in Fort Wayne.

The contract includes the delivery of SINCGARS base stations and vehicle radios. SINCGARS provides secure VHF voice and data communications capability to tactical units. The company notes that with more than 600,000 radios delivered to date, SINCGARS is the most prolific tactical radio system in the world. The acronym stands for Single Channel Ground-To-Air Radios.
