Emergency crews were working to free a female driver trapped in her vehicle after it struck a tree and caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
The vehicle hit a tree at around 3:45 p.m. in the 8900 block of Hessen Cassel Road south of Maples Road, according to scanner traffic. The fire was soon out, and a hospital helicopter was put on standby for assistance if needed.
