Faith briefs: Rescue Mission to serve free Thanksgiving Day dinner

FIRST MENNONITE CHURCH, Berne, and the Mennonite Choral Society will present Handel's “Messiah” at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 and at 3 p.m. Dec. 2.GOOD SHEPHERD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 4700 Vance Ave., will hold a Taize worship service at 5 p.m. Sunday; enter Door 6. The service will be held in Room 141.

LAKEWOOD PARK BAPTIST CHURCH, 5555 DeKalb County Road 29, Auburn, will have Festival of Lights at 7 p.m. Dec. 6-7 and 3 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8-9.

LEO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 13527 Leo Road, Leo-Cedarville, is holding GriefShare sessions each Saturday morning through Dec. 1. This seminar/support group is for any adults who are going through the loneliness of the loss of a loved one. Meetings begin at 10 a.m. and last approximately two hours. LIFETREE CAFÉ, Ossian Presbyterian Church, 123 S. Jefferson St., Ossian, will discuss the mystery of prayer 6-7 p.m. Sunday.

NEW HAVEN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 630 Lincoln Highway E., New Haven, will offer GriefShare at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, through Dec. 4. GriefShare Surviving the Holidays seminar takes place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Contact Margie Williams at 749-9907 or the church at 749-9565. Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday. All are welcome.

RESCUE MISSION, 301 W. Superior St., will host its annual Thanksgiving Day dinner for the hungry and homeless noon-3 p.m. Thursday.

TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1636 St. Mary's Ave., will have Thanksgiving Eve service at 7 p.m. today. There is no Thursday service. Midweek Advent services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesdays, Dec. 5-19 and at 9:30 a.m. Fridays, Dec. 7-21. Christmas Eve service will be at 7 p.m. Christmas Day service with Holy Communion will be at 10 a.m. New Year's Eve Service will be at 7 p.m. For information, call 422-7931, Opt. 1, Ext. 100.
