Butler University freshman guard Kellen Dunham couldn't have asked for a much better start to his collegiate career.
After helping the Bulldogs to a 74-59 victory over Elon at Hinkle Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dunham earned him Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors.
Dunham came off the bench and scored 18 points in the opening game of the 2012 EA Sports Maui Invitational. He hit five of 10 shots from the floor, including three of eight from beyond the three-point arc, and all five of his free throw attempts.
The 6-foot-6 guard also added three assists and a steal in the victory.
Dunham's 18 points set a school mark for most points by a freshman in his first Butler game. The previous mark was 16 points by Jermaine Guice against Western Illinois in 1990.
Butler will be one of 22 teams participating in the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon, 24 hours of basketball, today at Xavier at 4 p.m.
