Restaurant news: Options abound to eat out, carry in on Thanksgiving Day

If you're planning to dine out on Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 22 this year, here are some options:•Don Hall's Triangle Park, 3010 Trier Road. The restaurant is open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with a special Thanksgiving menu featuring turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and soup or salad. Children may substitute chicken strips for turkey. Cost: $13.99 for adults, $11.99 for seniors and $5.99 for ages 12 and younger.

Do you prefer beef? You can get a New York strip or filet mignon with bread and two sides for $17.99 adults, $14.99 seniors and $7.99 ages 12 and under.

A steak and lobster meal with two sides is $26.99.

Ham, baked scrod or raspberry-pecan chicken with two sides is $13.99 for adults, $11.99 for seniors and $5.99 for children under 12. Desserts are $2.49 each.

•Don Hall's Guesthouse, 1313 W. Washington Center Road, is serving a Thanksgiving Day Buffet in the grand ballroom 11 a.m.-3 p.m. On the menu: turkey, dressing and gravy; roast beef; Ossian ham; garlic smashed potatoes; broccoli-and-rice casserole; sweet potato casserole; green beans; corn casserole; fresh fruits and vegetables; salad station; cranberry salad; desserts; and coffee, tea and soft drinks. Cost: $18.95 for adults; $7.95 for ages 4-10; and free ages 3 and younger. Call 489-2524, Ext. 413, to make reservations.

Another option at the hotel is in the Guesthouse Grille Restaurant, which will be open for breakfast off the menu 8 a.m.-11a.m. A Thanksgiving Day buffet will be served 11 a.m.-3 p.m. for $15.95 for adults; $7.95 for ages 4-10; and free for ages 3 and under. The menu includes turkey, ham, smashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, broccoli-rice casserole, green bean casserole, sweet corn casserole, cranberry salad and pies. Guests can order off the dinner menu 11a.m.-6 p.m. The last seating is at 6 p.m. Reservations are recommended; call 489-2524, Ext. 413.

•Liberty Diner, 2929 Goshen Road, will be open 7 a.m.-3 p.m. for breakfast and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. for dinner, and will include a free slice of pumpkin pie with meals.

•The new Teppanyaki Grill Supreme Buffet at 285 Coliseum Blvd. E. will be open 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

•Ceruti's Catering is offering a turkey dinner you can pick up the day before Thanksgiving. The cost is $6.95 per person, with a minimum of five orders. The dinner includes sliced roasted turkey with gravy and dressing, redskin smashed potatoes, green beans with bacon and onion, and rolls and butter. Order by Monday. Phone: 207-2000. •Bob Evans bills its Farmhouse Feast as a way for families to enjoy a traditional holiday feast without a lot of prep work or cleanup. The heat-and serve meal serves eight and comes with a choice of a whole boneless turkey breast or sliced boneless ham, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, green beans with ham, cranberry relish, rolls, a loaf of pumpkin bread and a pumpkin pie with whipped topping all for $74.99. For larger groups, additional servings can be added a la carte. A smaller meal for four costs $44.99. The meals can be ordered online at www.bobevans.com or by calling or visiting any Bob Evans restaurant. Bob Evans restaurants are closed Thanksgiving Day, so the meals will have to be picked up beforehand.

•Richard's Bakery, 1130 N. Wells St., is taking Thanksgiving orders for pies, cakes, cookies and other pastries. Call 424-4012. Hours: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 6 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays. Richard's also will be part of the Holly Trolley Shopping Day on Nov. 24.Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast is serving a Thanksgiving meal, but not on Thanksgiving Day.

The school's dinner buffet will be tonight and Wednesday. It costs $6.99 and is open to the public.

The buffet will be served 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the Wrap N Roll Deli on Ivy Tech's Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd. On Wednesday, it will be served 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Blue Bamboo Café in the Student Life Center on Ivy Tech's North Campus, 4900 St. Joe Road.

The menu will include turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread stuffing, autumn vegetable medley, green bean casserole, herbed garlic and Cheddar biscuits, pumpkin pie, pumpkin and red velvet cake rolls, warm peach cobbler and drinks.Joseph Decuis, the fine-dining establishment in Roanoke with a farm 6 miles away that supplies much of its food, has produced a documentary film. “An Indiana Farm to Fork Celebration — The Joseph Decuis Story” will be shown 8-9 p.m. Nov. 27 at Fort Wayne's Cinema Center, 437 E. Berry St. Cost is $10 general admission, with proceeds benefiting Cinema Center. Tickets are available at Joseph Decuis and at the Cinema Center. The eatery, which serves homemade Mexican and American food as well as barbecue, is open 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 6 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. The restaurant will offer a $6.50 breakfast special. Phone: 267-9060.Indiana Family Restaurant and Pancake House has opened at 1535 N. Coliseum Blvd., just north of the intersection with Lake Avenue. Owner Saturn Aldave says the restaurant serves breakfast anytime, as well as sandwiches and non-breakfast entrees, including a couple of Mexican dishes. The restaurant is open 6 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday and Monday, and 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

He also owns two restaurants of the same name in Bluffton and Decatur.Firehouse Subs has opened a second store at 4423 Coldwater Road, next to Wu's. Hours: 10:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 10:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.If all goes according to plan, a Wings Etc. will open sometime next year in the 2300 block of Getz Road, north of Canopy Corners on the west side of the road. Property owner Neil Kobi has filed plans with the Plan Commission to build a freestanding restaurant for the chain, which also has a restaurant on Dupont Road. Kobi said it could be May or June before the restaurant is built and ready to open, and that’s if everything goes as planned.Yum Yums Yogurt-U-Make, 10454 Maysville Road, is having a special event 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday in observance of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Vanilla Bean Unique Cookies and Cupcakes will be there selling their goodies 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Radio station STAR 88.3-FM, will be there 3-6 p.m. Santa will visit 3-5 p.m., and pictures will be taken 3:30-4:30 p.m. Fort Wayne Chocolate Fountain will be offering samples 5-10 p.m. Donation barrels will be available all day for donations to local homeless shelters the Rescue Mission and Charis House. Yum Yums will give gifts to the first 100 customers who donate.Toscani Pizzeria, 120 W. Wayne St., is offering the following specials through the end of November, based on customer favorites: A large, hand-pinched sausage pizza can be purchased for the price of a medium. The chicken Florentine, customers' runner-up favorite, is $14 for a large.•Sushi West, 4036 Coldwater Road, has a sign on the door that it is closed for remodeling.

•A sign says Asakusa will be opening at 6401 W. Jefferson Blvd., in the Village at Time Corners. It will be located next to Uncle Bill's Pet Superstore.

•A Noodle Co. restaurant is planned for 4602 Illinois Road, a small strip shopping center near the Target store. The restaurant has applied for an alcohol permit.
