I have three friends who retired from the military. They never left the country. They had office jobs. They have a pension. And they all collect some kind of disability check from the government. We all hurt after we retire, but we don't get checks. Cut the military budget now.
I have been in the oil business for 30 years. You could open up every acre in the U.S. to drilling and we would still not drill any more wells. We do not have the refining ability to drill and process any more oil than we do now.
To those pushing for war with Iran. Remember the domino theory. A farce. WMDs in Iraq. Nonexistent. Eleven years in Afghanistan. How is that even possible? Do we ever learn from our past, from all of our national treasure (lives) lost in senseless wars. Where did we go wrong?
Why can't a plainclothes cop pose as a bank employee and open up a bank? If 15 cars show up at a bank crime scene, then that's 15 banks that could have been part of a sting. Too many cops in cars. You have no imagination (Fort Wayne Police Chief Rusty) York.
A government based on biblical principles would mean to me principles such as, love your neighbor, walk the extra mile, turn the other cheek, love your enemies. But, sadly, when many religious leaders and politicians call for government based on biblical principles, it only means keeping gays in the closet and women pregnant.
I noticed two articles on your front page … (on a recent day) that made me wonder about our justice system. In one, a person was sent to prison for having 100 cats; the other admitted abusing her four children physically and mentally and got no jail time. I protest having to help pay for this gross application of justice.
There are too many important things going on in this country to be concerned with a basketball team being “too white.” I think these kind of people are the ones who are racists. Be color blind ... are the best players playing? Good grief. … Why not fight to end hunger or homelessness instead of this.
To the walkers on the Greenway and Aboite trails: Use proper trail etiquette, too. Don't walk down the middle of the trail, stay to the right. Keep your dog on a leash. If more than one of you, don't take up the entire trail. And teach your kids not to wander back and forth across the trail.
