Bar fight ends outside with 1 dead, Fort Wayne Police say

Sunday, November 4, 2012 - 8:31 pm

A man involved in a bar fight was later stabbed to death outside early Sunday morning, according to Fort Wayne Police.

Police were called at 1:22 a.m. after the end of Daylight Savings Time to the Dugout, 3401 Fairfield Ave., where officers found the man with one or more severe stab wounds on the sidewalk at the rear of the bar, according to Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman Sgt. Mark Brooks.

The man, who was later identified by the Allen County coroner's office as Reynaldo Morales, 41, of Fort Wayne, was taken by medics to a hospital in critical condition, but he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival, Brooks said. His death is the 25th homicide of the year in Fort Wayne and Allen County.

Earlier Morales had been involved in a fight among several people inside the bar, according to witnesses, which prompted employees to close the business, but the fight resumed outside, Brooks said.

Witnesses said one man fled the scene in an unknown direction, Brooks said.

Detectives, representatives of the Allen County coroner's and prosecutor's offices were notified and arrived to investigate.
