Zoo Director Jim Anderson was recognized as a "Distinguished Alumnus" of Fort Wayne's South Side High School for his significant contributions to the Fort Wayne community.
"I'm proud to be part of the South Side tradition," said Anderson, who graduated in 1975, "and to be counted among the school's many notable alumni."
Previous recipients of the award include actress Shelley Long, fashion designer Bill Blass and physician and TV medical reporter Dr. Nancy Snyderman. South Side High School, which is part of Fort Wayne Community Schools, celebrated its 90th anniversary this year.
Wild Zoo Halloween was fun for all!
Thanks to the many members, friends, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the Wild Zoo Halloween a roaring success!
More than 90,000 treats, 10,000 toys, and 10,000 mini-pumpkins made their way into kids' treat bags over the eight days of the event. Thousands of kids had their hair done at the Beauty Shop of Horrors, and we lost count of all the silly jokes told by Lil' Bill in the Joke Station.
Here are some photos that capture the magic of the Wild Zoo Halloween 2012. Have some photos to share? Post them on the zoo's Facebook page!
