Strong winds blanket state, but Fort Wayne spared power outages

Nearly 7,000 I&M customers without power elsewhere

Tuesday, October 30, 2012 - 9:17 am

Sandy's reach extends across Indiana, with strong winds throughout the state. In Fort Wayne, the National Service recorded winds of 20-25 mph late Monday and Tuesday morning, with gusts up to 40 mph.

As of 9 a.m., Indiana Michigan Power Co. was not reporting any power outages in Fort Wayne. However, nearly 7,000 I&M customers were without power in southwestern Michigan and northern Indiana. More than 1,500 of those without power were in LaPorte, Marshall and St. Joseph counties in northern Indiana.
