Indiana's inside depth took a hit with senior forward Derek Elston's knee injury. He's set to undergo surgery to repair torn cartilage suffered this week and could be out as long as two months.
The 6-9 Elston averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds, mostly as a reserve.
He's the second inside player to be sidelined by health issues. Freshman forward Hanner Perea has a foot injury that left him in a walking boot.
Freshman forward Jeremy Hollowell is the inside player likely to get Elston's minutes until he returns. Forwards Cody Zeller and Christian Watford are returning frontcourt starters.
IU, ranked No. 1 in the coaches' poll, opens its season Nov. 9 against Bryant.
