The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s Wild Zoo Halloween opens Friday. The event is open from noon-5 p.m. on days it is held at the zoo, 3411 Sherman Blvd. in Franke Park.
Highlights of the upcoming weekend include:
Friday: Free train rides
Zoo guests can ride the train for free all day. The train ride features the Halloween-themed “Tale of the Twisted Tree” where riders are invited to find the mythical Twisted Tree in the Franke Park woods.
Saturday: Star Wars Day
Members of a local Star Wars enthusiast club will appear in realistic Star Wars costumes from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Australian Adventure Plaza. Children are encouraged to meet the characters and pose for photos. Bring your own camera. No additional charge above admission.
Sunday: Mascot Day
From 1 to 4 p.m., zoo guests can meet a variety of local mascots at the Australian Adventure Plaza, including Johnny from the TinCaps, Sparky the Fire Dog, K’Zoo, Bill the Lion, Admiral Andy, Roller Roo, and The Mad Ant.
Regular daily activities include gathering treats, exploring mazes, live animal shows, the Pumpkin Patch, and more.
The Wild Zoo Halloween will continue Oct. 25-28 and 31, with more theme days:
Oct. 25: Pumpkin decorating workshop
Oct. 26: Free train rides
Oct. 27: Princess day
Oct. 28: Magic day
Oct. 31: Zoo animals get pumpkins as Halloween treats

Admission for the Wild Zoo Halloween is $8 for children and $4 for adults. Zoo Members receive $2 off per person every day. Additional fees are charged for the train ride, pony ride, carnival-style games, bracelet-making and face painting. Food is available for purchase.
