Team re-signs all-time leading scorer

Friday, October 12, 2012 - 3:05 am

Ron Howard, the all-time leading scorer for the Mad Ants, has been signed to return to the team for the 2012-13 season.

The Ants announced Howard's signing today.

“Ron is a tremendous asset to this team; he's a veteran in our league, is incredibly quick, and has the ability to score from anywhere on the court,” new Mad Ants coach Duane Ticknor said in a statement. “I have high expectations for him this season.”

Howard averaged 17.5 points and 4.1 rebounds over 31 games last season. He has played for the Mad Ants at some point in every season since their 2007-08 inaugural season. He has played in 168 career games, averaging 16.3 points and 3.9 rebounds over five seasons.

"He is not only a great player, he's a great person and a wonderful role model for young people in Fort Wayne," Ants president Jeff Potter said in a released statement. "I'm proud that Ron has become the face of the Mad Ants organization.”

The Mad Ants open their sixth NBA Development League season Nov. 23 at home against the Erie BayHawks.
