Snider shuts out Bishop Dwenger to win first SAC title since 2005

Saturday, October 6, 2012 - 2:52 am

The victory bell is returning to Snider for the first time in seven years.

Snider (8-0, 6-0 SAC) had more than 300 rushing yards as it defeated Bishop Dwenger 43-0 on Friday in Fort Wayne to remain undefeated and clinch the SAC championship.

Running backs Je'norie Smith and Tyrell Swain each had a game-high 92 rushing yards and a touchdown in the victory. Snider, which is ranked No. 3 in the latest Class 5A statewide coaches poll, had four rushing touchdowns in the first half to help build a 36-0 halftime lead.

Snider's defense in the shutout held Bishop Dwenger (3-5, 3-3 SAC) to 200 total offensive yards. The defense also had three sacks and forced a safety in the second quarter after Bishop Dwenger fumbled a snap on its one-yard line.

Running back D'Marcus Moon in the loss led Bishop Dwenger with 63 rushing yards.

This is the first time since 2005 that Snider has won the SAC championship.

Snider will conclude the regular season next week as it plays a road game against Wayne at 7 p.m. Friday.
