Warsaw motorcyclist killed in Fulton County wreck

Saturday, October 6, 2012 - 7:16 am

A Warsaw motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon after a woman turned her SUV into his path.

Thomas Witmer, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck in Fulton County at about 5 p.m.

Investigators said Arissa Grossman, 52, of Akron was at the wheel of a Dodge Journey, eastbound on Fulton County Division Road. She stopped at Indiana 19 and began a turn north onto that state road. Her vehicle was hit in the driver's side by a motorcycle driven by Witmer, who had been headed south on Indiana 19. Witmer was thrown from the motorcycle in the crash.

State Police said that even though Witmer was wearing a helmet, he died from the head injuries caused by the impact.

Grossman was unhurt in the wreck, but she was cited for failing to yield to cross traffic.
