Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper and his representatives have applied to trademark the phrase, “That's a clown question, bro,” a statement he made to a reporter asking a question he didn't like.
Under Armour will sell T-shirts with the phrase, proving you can make money off anything, bro.
Meanwhile, the National Association of Clowns is considering a slander suit for being linked with the media.
Colts contract blues
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay disputed a report, via Twitter, that endorsement deals were holding up contract negotiations with top pick, rookie quarterback Andrew Luck. However, inside sources say some friction could be because of plans to introduce Luck at games as “Quarterback Andrew Luck, as discovered and discussed by @JimIrsay!”
The other issue is Irsay's wish to word the contract in 140 characters or less.
An item about nothing
The New York Mets have sent their temporary mascot, a chicken named “Little Jerry Seinfeld,” to the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, N.Y. The chicken, purchased by pitcher Tim Byrdak after teammate Frank Francisco called the Yankees “chickens,” will avoid having his goose cooked, so to speak.
The Red Sox, meanwhile, will continue to allow their mascot, “Little Bobby Valentine,” to roam the dugout unrestrained.
Linsanity loophole
New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin is among four players who were granted “Bird” and “early Bird” rights for free agency, a ruling that would allow the Knicks to go over the salary cap to re-sign him.
