One person is dead while another person was listed in fair condition after a Saturday night incident where shots were reportedly fired at a vehicle.
Dispatchers received numerous calls around 10:44 p.m. about shots fired in the area of the 4600 block of Spatz Avenue, according to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department. Officers sent to the area to investigate found a tan Nissan with three people inside, two of whom had been shot, the release said.
The driver, a male whose identity has not been released, was declared dead at the scene by medics, according to the release, while a woman in the back seat was reportedly struck by a bullet and taken to a hospital in fair condition. A third person who was in the front passenger's seat was uninjured, the release said.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the Nissan was traveling on Spatz when gunfire erupted as it entered the 4600 block, the release said. No suspects have been identified and no arrests made, according to the release.
If ruled a homicide, the death would be the 11th of the year in Allen County.
This case remains under investigation by the police department, the Allen County Coroner's Office and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
