Effective today, WOWO radio afternoon-drive show host Pat Miller will become a political analyst for the station and host of a show at noon Saturdays.
Gregg Henson, director of programming operations at WOWO and sports-talk WQHK, 1380-AM, will take over as host of the afternoon drive show from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays on WOWO, 1190-AM and 92.3-FM, Henson said in a news release.
"My show will be a more contemporary talk show: Lifestyle, big news of the day and life in Fort Wayne, … less politics and policy," Henson said in a response to emailed questions.
"We made the change for a variety of reasons," Henson said. "The move to FM required us to adjust the programming to better attract the younger audience that is available to us on 92.3."
Miller became WOWO afternoon drive host two years ago, the news release said. The change will allow him to devote more time to his local business but still reach his audience through the analyst role and the show from noon to 2 p.m. Saturdays, the news release said.
Miller will be host for WOWO's live coverage of the Indiana primary election; the coverage begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, the news release said. The weekend show, which debuts this Saturday, will be the same format as Miller's afternoon drive-time show, Henson said.
"Pat is a great asset to WOWO, and we look forward to redeploying him in other areas to take advantage of his strengths," Henson said in the news release.
A Detroit native, Henson returned to the Midwest a year ago to be closer to family, the news release said.
He was host of a general talk show for three years at radio station WKRK in Detroit, he said. He also has been host of sports morning shows in Dallas, Philadelphia and Detroit.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to host a show on one of America's great radio stations," Henson said in the news release. "WOWO has a special relationship with this community, and I look forward to being a part of it."
