Allen County veterans or their survivors received $14.1 million in benefits last year thanks to the efforts of County Veterans Services Officer George Jarboe and the American Legion, according to the American Legion Services Department in Indianapolis.
Jarboe said the money was used to cover items such as low-income pension programs, service-related compensation and education and insurance benefits. The $14.1 million was in addition to health-care benefits obtained for county veterans and represents an increase of $3.5 million from 2010.
For more information on the services provided by the Allen County Veterans Services Office, contact Jarboe at 449-7861 or by email at george.jarboe@allencounty.us. The office is located in Room 106 of the Rousseau Centre (formerly City-County Building) at One E. Main St.
