Pasquetti’s Italian Steakhouse says “grazie, Fort Wayne,” because it has closed after a year. The restaurant, 3530 W. Jefferson Blvd., has shut its doors over what it says is a disagreement over rent on the building. However, it’s not looking for a new location. It had moved here from Bluffton. Instead, it will auction its contents June 8. The phone mailbox was no longer in service Monday, and auction representatives at the restaurant Monday said it closed Sunday. The name was off the building already Monday.
According to its Facebook posting (also posted on the restaurant’s door), “Unfortunately, we have been unable to reach an agreement with the building owners regarding what we believe to be a fair price for the building and grounds, and we are unwilling to continue renting the premises. As such, we are forced to close our doors. We will be holding an auction on Thursday, June 8th for all restaurant equipment and numerous personal items. The kitchen is fully equipped and most of the equipment is less than three years old.
“We would all like to thank the community for your support. We have experienced record growth week after week as more people are discovering us and we hate to see it end.”We tried the lunch bar a couple of times and found it delicious. The garlic knots were great. However, we had a poor incident with dinner service in which a friend’s forgotten order wasn’t rushed to the front of the line and he had to eat when everyone else was finished with their meals. A co-worker wasn’t impressed with the service when he went, and another said he received a dessert that was still frozen, but our food reviewer found the service and food to be molto buono.
Its loss is unfortunate because it was a good option close to downtown. The site formerly was a Wendy’s. We’ll keep our eyes open to see if another restaurant goes in there.
